Vintage letterpress posters are truly a work of art (we love them) because of the unique combination of graphics and typography. So when Suosdey asked us to print some business cards she had designed we were thrilled with their retro inspired look. The business cards are a great mix of small graphic elements and type faces. We knew that these would make great business cards and surely the pictures don’t lie. The cards were printed on our house stock (100% cotton paper) in black ink.

These business cards are a great example of how well letterpress business cards can reflect you or your company. The luxurious quality of the paper combined with great design and the unique look of letterpress printing will make your business card and you stand out from everyone else. For more of our letterpress business cards check out the custom category of our new portfolio. Nothing like some shameless self promotion … anyway have a great weekend!

You may have already noticed our new letterpress portfolio but its now official! We have been working on this for a while because well all of you demanded it. The portfolio features great descriptions and high resolution images of our wedding invitations, baby announcements, social stationery, and other custom work. We are still photographing samples and updating the catalog but there is already a nice selection of some of our work.

The letterpress portfolio has a new main page (above) which showcases the categories and other information about our letterpress work. On the main page, the portfolio is broken up into four categories which includes wedding, baby, social, and custom. Each category has a great spotlight page (below) with large thumbnails of each sample, which increase in size when you hover over them.

For each product (see below) there is a description of the project including details on paper, ink, design, and more. There is also a great selection of high resolution photos of the letterpress cards (this was probably the most requested feature). With these pictures you can see what makes letterpress printing so special, at least we think so =D. We are also in the process of creating high resolution PDFs of the layouts for our line of wedding invitations, social stationery, and baby announcements. We’ll make sure to make an announcement when that feature comes online.

So stop reading this post already and go take a look at our new letterpress portfolio. Please make sure to let us know what you think, after all we hold our readers opinion in very high regard and if you have any suggestions we’d love to hear them as well. As always we are available via phone (516.353.9284) and email (contact@dolcepress.com) to talk to you about letterpress printing.

In addition to our fabulous letterpress wedding invitations, business cards, and stationery, we also print a wide variety of corporate invitations. Letterpress invitations adds a luxurious quality to corporate events helping to start the celebration off on the right foot.

We printed these letterpress invitations for the First Kentucky Trust company who was having a special open house. The design for these invitations is based on the company logo and is printed in navy blue and orange on soft textured 100% cotton paper. The cotton paper is a great match for letterpress because it allows for a deeper impression and the combination of rich colors and deep impression really make this invitation stand out. The invites are paired with matching cotton envelopes that are letterpress printed on the back flap in navy blue featuring the company seal and return address.
When John first contacted us about printing some letterpress business cards for him we were open to his ideas on the cards. But, when he told us he wanted a card with seven colors we had to make sure he wasn’t joking. With letterpress printing the card has to be run through the press for each color in the design, which is why most people limit the colors to two or at most three. But John was insistent that the design stay the same so off to the press we went with a BIG cup of coffee.
It may have taken a while, but once they were done we knew there was something special about these cards. The cards were printed on thick 100% cotton paper with a kiss impression on the back to minimize bruising on the front of the card. The card was printed with black, light green, and dark green inks on both sides and a blind deboss on front. The blind impression was used to mimic a reflection of the John Lauren Photography logo. More pictures of these great cards are below.
