Who ever said three was a crowd?
    January 27, 2009

Especially when the invites are this gorgeous!  We have added 3 new designs to our wedding portfolio, each with a distinctive style and a little something extra.  Just the Letterpress printing on the invite itself makes a piece standout but we have added some special embellishments to make then unforgettable.  We will be updating our custom page with more information on these special embellishments such as pouches, belly bands, Swarovski crystals, edge painting etc.  In the meantime, please feel free to contact us for more information.

    For Megill Gauge Pins Only
    January 15, 2009

UPDATE (11/1/11): Sky Shipley let us know that the Gauge Pin Cups are sold out. Unfortunately there are no plans as of now to make another batch. Congrats to those that got them!

People always assume printing is messy, dirty work.  That is definitely not the case at Dolce Press. We run a very tight ship here and everything is always in its place.  The only thing that never seems to have a home and and seem to collect on my feedboards are my gauge pins.  Much to my delight, while surfing the web I found Skyline Type Foundry who makes an antique replica of a gauge pin cup.   As per their website here is a description and a picture of this niftty little gadget:

    Megill’s Gauge Pin Cup
    (Antique Reproduction)

This little collector’s item is so rare, and so cool, that we have (at some great expense) put them back in production.  It’s a little cast iron cup, 2-1/2″ x 4″.  There’s an ear with a screw hole, and it mounts on the bottom side of the feed board of your press, pivoting in or out, and holds your gauge pins and other small items.  Inside the cup are cast the words FOR MEGILL’S GAUGE PINS.  Every press needs one!  We’ll have to sell a zillion to break even.
    Price $20.00

Illustration from 1906 American Type Founders Specimen Book

It seems like this type foundry is quite “old school” and if you would like to order one of these gauge pin cups, you will have to send a check for $20 + $8 for shipping to:

    Skyline Type Foundry, LLC
    PO Box 12816

    Prescott  AZ  86304

If you have any clever ideas for keeping your press shop or studio clean please email me, because I would love to hear or see pictures.
