Our story: My fiance and I were watching a huge thunderstorm rolling in..I of course was nervous about the weather. I turned around and he was on one knee holding my fabulous solitary round cut. He told me as long as I was with him, I would never need to be afraid again.

My fiance is 6’2, 140 lbs so you can understand my frustration trying to understand why he wouldn’t let me put his beach things in the cute new beach bag I bought for our vacation in Mexico, and insisted on carrying around in a big black backpack for the first 3 days of our trip! But after lunch one day we went and sat on a cliff over looking the beach and didn’t say a whole lot, he then let me know that we would “remember this day forever.” Of course my smart comment was, “oh really? Why is that?” I looked at him and he said (not kneeling on the cliff thank gawd!), “because today I will ask you to be my wife!” I think he had the ring out at that point but who knows!?! I was bawling for the next 20 minutes!!

This is quite a long, intricate story, but I will try to condense it to a few sentences! My fiance had my closest friends plan a “girl’s” night, and by following different clues that he gave me throughout the night and next morning, I ended up on a scavenger hunt in New York (I live in Kansas City!). I ended up flying on a plane and meeting him in the middle of Central Park, where he proposed (January 2, 09)!! After being set up by friends in high school, we’ve been together almost 4 years and are getting married this June!

My storry is a bit different from the others. My fiance and I have been dating for now nearly 5 years. Before dating I was involved in a abusive marriage and have a daughter from it. After 5 years I finally got divorced from that nightmare and it was arounf christmas. My fiancee always said his greatest gift would be my divorce papers, and so with that said I gave him that gift. Ialways gave me another by being overjoyed about the divorce I got on one knee and said would you make me the luckiest 24 hour divorced woman and marry me! to my surprise with his broken ribs from a thanksgiving football injury he agreed , I couldnt believe it and pushed him to the accidentalyy were his injury was whoops. needless to say Costa Rica May 2nd 2010 HERE WE COME!

Zach and I had been dating a little over 7 months when we moved together from Denver to Carmel in October. He surprised me a week before thanksgiving with a weekend getaway to San Francisco! I had never been before, but my grandparents used to travel there all the time and I LOVED hearing about their adventures. He booked a room in the same hotel they had stayed and we did many of the things they had done and told me about years ago. Then he took me to the Marin highlands and proposed, after only 8 months! I will never forget it, what an amazing day…my grandparents loved hearing the story!

It was a very cold night in Seattle, Washington. My boyfriend Billy, was opening a show for his amazing friend Rosie Thomas. His band, The Beautiful Clarks asked me to sing that night. There were about 500 people there in all, in festive attire with decorations around the venue to match. All of my family was there to see us sing together. So we get up there to sing and it all goes really well…at the second-to-last song, I go to get off stage…but then Billy stopped me. I thought he was going to ask me to play tambourine for the last song…so I am just standing there…then all of a sudden, he turns around, gets down on one knee and proposed. I was sooo shocked! He had his filmmaker friend and photography friend come to document the night. No one knew, not even my MOM, until 20 minutes before the show! We got a standing ovation and it was one of the best moments of my life.

I have a favorite place in the entire world. It is a bucolic setting in rural Vermont, complete with scenic views of the surrounding mountains, horses grazing in the fields, old stone walls and winding dirt roads. It also just so happens to be land that my boyfriend’s family has owned for years. Earlier this winter, he arranged for the two of us to spend the weekend in the rustic colonial farmhouse on the property. After a snowy afternoon hiking through the woods, we ended up on a bluff overlooking the valley below just as the sun was breaking through the clouds. He told me this was where he wanted to build our house one day. He then got down on one kneed (in 2 feet of snow) and said that this exact point was where he would put the front door, so that every time he came home he would reminded of the happiness he felt the day he asked me to be his wife. We’ll be holding our wedding in that field, so that all of our friends and family will be a part of the foundation.

My boyfriend and I discussed getting married and then we looked for rings online. When we had enough money, we went to the jewelry store and bought my ring. The sales lady packaged up the ring and gave it to Paul and we went out to the car. He asked me to marry him there. There wasn’t a lot of “show” in the proposal, but we’re are both shy and emotionally ackward, so the moment was just right for how we are.
We love each other SO much!

I never had any desire to get married…and was content to be the perpetual anti-bride, even though I’ve been with my boyfriend (my best friend) for nearly 10 years–since I was 18. Luckily, he rebelled against my wedding antagonism and saw it for what it really was–fear of losing my identity. Even though we’re untraditional in every way, he proposed to me right as I got out of the shower in a sweet old-school style, abandoning his initial plan to ask me on the bridge spanning the Delaware River: Bottle of Veuve Clicquot ’99 and Tom Waits’ gravely voice crooning on the stereo.

It’s simple: Monday night, 25 minutes after we both got off work, he had made dinner for us as usual (he is a great cook). He had called and said he was starving and was asking why I wasn’t at his place yet. I got there and we started to eat–John didn’t even touch his plate of food. We finished, or more like I finished dinner, and then proceeded to turn on the television as I enjoyed a glass of wine. He came over, sat in front of the television, got down on one knee and said “I couldn’t wait another day or another minute, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?”
It’s my favorite story in the whole world…..

He woke up one Sunday and suggested we go to a museum of my choice in Philly. So, I chose the Mutter Museum, a medical oddity museum (very romantic). After some shopping and lunch, he took me to a park where we sat for a while talking and watching the birds on the lake. I said I had to pee…cute I know! He said, “No! We can’t leave yet. I have something to ask you.” He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!

My fiance and I went to a lovely dinner in NYC. While we were out, our friends were running all around the city buying balloons and flowers to fill our apartment. They then ran out as we were on our way home. When we got back to our apartment, my fiance asked if I could go up the stairs before him and open the door. At first I had thought he bought me a dog (I had been asking for a while), but when I opened the door and saw all the flowers (about 15 large vases) and balloons, I knew there was no dog. I still didn’t know he was going to propose though until I turned around and he was on one knee. I was SO shocked, I kept asking “is this a joke? are you serious??” When I realized he was, I shouted “yes!”

He got us a cabin in Tennessee for a birthday surprise for me and while we were there, he proposed. It was such a romantic setting and it was perfect.

My fiance and I hiked the local mountain (a hill really) and when we reach the top we always take a picture of each other. I walked a few feet away to have my picture taken and when I turned around instead of a camera he had the ring box in his hand and he proposed. Despite knowing it was coming soon it was a total surprise. Of course I said yes.

My fiancee (a very outgoing, over the top kind of guy) proposed to me (a much more private, reserved kind of girl) on New Year’s Eve. He works at a restaurant but was able to get the night off, so just as I was about to leave for a party he came home and surprised me with flowers and although he is not much of a cook, he made a delicious meal for us. He even called my favorite rest. and got the recipe for a dish that I love. At midnight he proposed, just the two of us at home, exactly what I wanted. I’ve never really liked NYE as I live in NYC and it is more of a pain than a fun night, but now I have great memories of NYE.

Here goes! We had met 9 months before, only been “officially” dating for 6 months, and started discussing marriage 3 months prior to our engagement date 01.09.09. I told him that all I wanted was a proposal that came from the heart – aka creative + a ring pop (I didn’t need anything fancy). He’d turn to me every now and then and say, “like I DON’T want to buy you a ring pop right now.” =) Every time he said it – I had the silliest grin. Anyhow “the day” came and we had scheduled to see Bride Wars opening night. Right before going to the theater we needed to stop by Toys-R-Us in Times Square to buy his nephew a woody doll that is only carried there. I didn’t think anything of it (clearly). Right before he said “you WON’T get on the ferris wheel with me.” So of course I did! We get to the very top and the wheel stopped, he looked like a ghost then got on one knee. I started screaming – something about him not getting off his seat, omg it’s now, etc. Then I said YES!

My boyfriend proposed while we were walking along an empty beach at 8 in the morning. My first response was “where’s the ring?” because I knew he couldn’t have been carrying the conspicuous and otherwise unnecessary shoulder bag for nothing.

My fiance chose to use a scavanger hunt to propose to me. He left clues all around our apartment on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately for him, I got through them so fast, I still had to wait until midnight. As the ball dropped, he kissed me and told me that the puppy deserves a kiss too, so he starts to lean down. Instead, he gets on one knee, pulls out the ring, with tears flowing like crazy. Telling me that he loves me so much, he asks me to marry him. It was so cute, I loved it. Not only was it at midnight on New Year’s, but that was my birthday, so it was even more special.

My fiance proposed on top of a mountain at the first mile marker in on the Appalachian Trail, which he captured all on video as a surprise. We spent the rest of the weekend in a cabin in the blue ridge mountains of North Georgia and finally came home to a surprise engagement party at my parent’s home. The whole thing was a complete surprise and completely perfect.

We drove up highway 1 along the California coast on his birthday and at each scenic stop, he presented me with a gift. You can imagine my surprise and delight! These were trinkets that he had purchased over the years on his business and family travels for his some-day bride (me!) whom he had yet to meet at the time. The last stop was a little park by the beach in San Francisco, the same place where he asked me to be his girlfriend 1.5 yrs ago. He took me to a little cliff over-looking the Pacific ocean and asked me if I would give him the honor of loving me for the rest of our lives. The last of 12 gifts that day was a beautiful Canadian diamond ring. I will remember that day forever!

Simple. Heartfelt. Intimate. Oh-so-surprisingly-fun. We took a walk and ended up looking at the view of San Francisco. The sun was setting. I turned around from looking at the view and he said, “I love you; I want to spend the rest of my life with you”. And got down on one knee. It turns out his friend had been hiding in the bushes the whole time, taking photos of us…so of course we had an impromptu photo shoot!

My fiance took me out to the restaurant where we had our first date six years prior. I thought we were celebrating the end of his absolutely horrendous semester of graduate school. We got back to the car and he pulled out a gift bag and I remember thinking to myself…”Wow, that’s so sweet of him to get me a thank you gift for editing all of his papers.” I opened up the gift and it was a silver picture frame with a picture of when we first met and one taken recently. The frame was engraved with, “Will You Marry Me” and I looked up and he was holding a ring. I was completely surprised and of course said yes!

Background: Baby sister and live-together, proud-parents-of-pug boyfriend are putzing around, talking about marriage but not making the Official Ring Move. Catalyst: Impatient, normally laid-back father makes ‘secret’ plans to waylay unsuspecting boyfriend with conversation about how father needs grandchildren, pronto. Happy Ending: Boyfriend-now-fiance independently and very romantically proposes to sister on beach, on knee, with gorgeous ring.

My fiance and I are experiencing our first winter in a new state: Minnesota. Needless to say, nothing could really prepare us for the amount of cold and snow here! During the first big snowstorm, my fiance seemed stressed. Finally, he blurted out: “You were supposed to go to lunch with (friend)! I have a Christmas tree in the basement–I was going to decorate the house while you were gone!” Since I love Christmas, but decided to forgo decorations because we’d be out of town, I melted, and suggested we decorate together. With the twinkle lights twinkling, Frank Sinatra crooning, and hot cocoa heating, he got down on his knee and asked me to keep him warm for the rest of our days.

Ours is a classic story of opposites attract. High school sweethearts turned into nine years of love, long distance, and pursuing individual dreams while gaining frequent flier miles and hefty phone bills. I was destined to be a city girl and moved to Manhattan upon college graduation while Ben remained in Oregon with his boat and 4-wheel drive. The only thing I loved more than NY was Ben so we debated back and forth what our next step would be. That’s what made the day he suprised me and flew to NY to propose on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade so special. Not to mention the fact that he flew my Oregonian family out to be there for a surprise sunset engagement party at the River Cafe overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The perfect day!

On a post new year’s drive out to the family cabin my boyfriend forced me to do a hike that I’d never done before. The hike is up a gigantic monolith called Beacon Rock. It looks out over the Columbia River Gorge and has an unbelievable view at the top. Needless to say I had no interest in doing this and complained the whole way up. He reached the top before me and placed the box where I could find it. He popped the question just as the setting sun was shining through a patch of clouds and slow flurries surrounded us. Beacon Rock is the perfect metaphor for our marriage and we are planning to have our wedding (in, um 6 months!) near this beautiful location. I can’t wait to get this party started!

We met in the romantic glow of backlighting for xray films in a small dingy xray reading room at the county hospital. Two years later, amidst withdrawing alcholics right outside the door, I picked up the first of a succession of envelopes that took me on a scavenger hunt all throughout Houston leading me to my now fiance on his knee, with the digital camera rolling in the background. Bliss.

Well, I have to preface this by saying that the very first movie he took (see:dragged) me too was “Casino Royale”.
Well, for our two year anniversary, he took (see:dragged) me to see “Quantum of Solace” after a nice dinner. I couldn’t say no, James Bond is his hero. I decided I was going to try and be pleasant. After the opening credits, he stands up, pulling me with him. He digs in his pocket and pulls out the ring.
“Asia, will you form an alliance with me?” He said.
“Absolutely, I will.”

My Jewish boyfriend was open minded about doing a Christmas celebration with my immediate family. As my siblings and I (we’re all adults now but live in seperate states)sat around gabbing and opening gifts, I opened my last present which was a wrapped ring pop. He proposed and we all spent the day together eating, bowling and having great time. It was perfect

My boyfriend told me that my Christmas present this year would be a trip somewhere, but I wouldn’t find out where until Christmas day. Christmas Day I was incredibly excited to find out where we were going, and I opened a Paris Travel Book. I was so excited because I have always wanted to go to Paris since I started taking French lessons in high school. The second day in Paris we walked all over the city and at the end of the day we arrived at the Eiffel Tower. We went to the beautiful and delicious Jules Verne restaurant on the second level, and then we walked around the outside level. We found a quiet spot to admire the view, and my boyfriend got down on one knee. At just that moment the Tower started to sparkle as it does every hour, and the ring looked so sparkly. It was an amazing experience.
