My boyfriend told me that my Christmas present this year would be a trip somewhere, but I wouldn't find out where until Christmas day. Christmas Day I was incredibly excited to find out where we were going, and I opened a Paris Travel Book. I was so excited because I have always wanted to go to Paris since I started taking French lessons in high school. The second day in Paris we walked all over the city and at the end of the day we arrived at the Eiffel Tower. We went to the beautiful and delicious Jules Verne restaurant on the second level, and then we walked around the outside level. We found a quiet spot to admire the view, and my boyfriend got down on one knee. At just that moment the Tower started to sparkle as it does every hour, and the ring looked so sparkly. It was an amazing experience.

My Jewish boyfriend was open minded about doing a Christmas celebration with my immediate family. As my siblings and I (we're all adults now but live in seperate states)sat around gabbing and opening gifts, I opened my last present which was a wrapped ring pop. He proposed and we all spent the day together eating, bowling and having great time. It was perfect

Well, I have to preface this by saying that the very first movie he took (see:dragged) me too was "Casino Royale".

Well, for our two year anniversary, he took (see:dragged) me to see "Quantum of Solace" after a nice dinner. I couldn't say no, James Bond is his hero. I decided I was going to try and be pleasant. After the opening credits, he stands up, pulling me with him. He digs in his pocket and pulls out the ring.

"Asia, will you form an alliance with me?" He said.

"Absolutely, I will."

We met in the romantic glow of backlighting for xray films in a small dingy xray reading room at the county hospital. Two years later, amidst withdrawing alcholics right outside the door, I picked up the first of a succession of envelopes that took me on a scavenger hunt all throughout Houston leading me to my now fiance on his knee, with the digital camera rolling in the background. Bliss.

On a post new year's drive out to the family cabin my boyfriend forced me to do a hike that I'd never done before. The hike is up a gigantic monolith called Beacon Rock. It looks out over the Columbia River Gorge and has an unbelievable view at the top. Needless to say I had no interest in doing this and complained the whole way up. He reached the top before me and placed the box where I could find it. He popped the question just as the setting sun was shining through a patch of clouds and slow flurries surrounded us. Beacon Rock is the perfect metaphor for our marriage and we are planning to have our wedding (in, um 6 months!) near this beautiful location. I can't wait to get this party started!

Ours is a classic story of opposites attract. High school sweethearts turned into nine years of love, long distance, and pursuing individual dreams while gaining frequent flier miles and hefty phone bills. I was destined to be a city girl and moved to Manhattan upon college graduation while Ben remained in Oregon with his boat and 4-wheel drive. The only thing I loved more than NY was Ben so we debated back and forth what our next step would be. That's what made the day he suprised me and flew to NY to propose on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade so special. Not to mention the fact that he flew my Oregonian family out to be there for a surprise sunset engagement party at the River Cafe overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The perfect day!

My fiance and I are experiencing our first winter in a new state: Minnesota. Needless to say, nothing could really prepare us for the amount of cold and snow here! During the first big snowstorm, my fiance seemed stressed. Finally, he blurted out: "You were supposed to go to lunch with (friend)! I have a Christmas tree in the basement--I was going to decorate the house while you were gone!" Since I love Christmas, but decided to forgo decorations because we'd be out of town, I melted, and suggested we decorate together. With the twinkle lights twinkling, Frank Sinatra crooning, and hot cocoa heating, he got down on his knee and asked me to keep him warm for the rest of our days.
