Our Valentine’s Day 2009 letterpress giveaway had some great engagement stories and when it came down to selecting a winner we had a hard time choosing. We picked high school sweethearts, Karlee & Benjamin, who had a great engagement story. We printed their Save the Date cards this weekend and they turned out great … at least we think they did!

The cards are printed on our 100% cotton paper (110#) using our vegetable oil based inks. We custom mixed the chartreuse and chocolate brown ink and after a little work we had these great Save the Date cards. The scalloped circles look great pressed into the paper and we paired the Save the Date with a matching square chartreuse envelope to add a pop of color. We’re very happy to have this design and several other new invitation sets added to our wedding portfolio.

Well not really, but if you’ve checked out our portfolio you might think that white paper is the only thing we can print on, which certainly isn’t true. We recently wrote about business cards we printed on kraft stock (blog post: What the Kraft?), but have been getting more inquiries about different paper options. Men’s Vogue contacted us a while back to print letterpress invitations for a special event they were hosting at the new Vertu boutique. They wanted something outrageously thick since the invites were being delivered by hand for this exclusive event and so we printed the invitations on 1/4″ thick black card stock using silver metallic ink.

Letterpress invitations for corporate events is certainly not a new trend, in fact we posted a while back about letterpress invitations we printed for First Kentucky Trust’s Open House (see post: corporate letterpress). Shortly after printing those invitations we got a call from Men’s Vogue to print these invitesfor a special event. Audemars Piguet, who sponsored the event, makes fine Swiss watches which was the inspiration for the design.

The watch design was printed in silver metallic ink and shows the intricate details of the gears which when letterpress printed provides a unique effect on the paper. Below are some closer pictures of the design which shows the metallic shimmer of the ink and the deep impression we were able to achieve using our thick cotton stock.

These invites are a great example of how letterpress printing can be used to create a unique invitation and start your event off on the right foot.

Letterpress business cards are a great way to get your foot in the door and communicates to your clients that your products/services are top notch. It is quite common for people to use letterpress in other aspects of their business such as holiday cards or promotional material.
Vivian Doan, a well known photography is Montreal, contacted us about letterpress printing inserts for CDs she hands out to clients. We printed the inserts (above) on 110# 100% cotton paper in pink and black ink and the final results were great. These inserts will definately set Vivian’s CDs apart from everyone else.

If you are interested in letterpress business cards, packaging, or promotional material, give us a call and we can walk you through the design process and the important aspects when designing for letterpress. Already have a design? Great! We commonly print projects for other designers and their clients. We are always available by phone (516.353.9284) or email (contact@dolcepress.com).
Have a happy holidays!

In addition to our fabulous letterpress wedding invitations, business cards, and stationery, we also print a wide variety of corporate invitations. Letterpress invitations adds a luxurious quality to corporate events helping to start the celebration off on the right foot.

We printed these letterpress invitations for the First Kentucky Trust company who was having a special open house. The design for these invitations is based on the company logo and is printed in navy blue and orange on soft textured 100% cotton paper. The cotton paper is a great match for letterpress because it allows for a deeper impression and the combination of rich colors and deep impression really make this invitation stand out. The invites are paired with matching cotton envelopes that are letterpress printed on the back flap in navy blue featuring the company seal and return address.
