This year we introduced a monthly print that highlights new and unique fonts. Last month’s card celebrated the New Year (Happy New Year Letterpress Card), and this month we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day. For the entire month of February, when your order ships, we’ll include one of these cards.

We used three different fonts for the design but the HeartBeats font was where it all started. Who doesn’t remember those tiny heart candies as a kid!

One of the best parts of the HeartBeats font is the knockout of each letter. A knockout like this creates what we call a faux-emboss, by giving the appearance of raised text. We’re in love with Appetite because of all great ligature glyphs that come with it and Singela is great unique hand written font. All of the fonts were found on the MyFonts website.

The card is 3″ square and was letterpress printed on cotton paper scraps with PMS Red 032 U ink.

Vintage perforated cards perfect for the paper lover (♥♥♥♥♥).

Any holiday is the perfect excuse for us to create new designs and Valentine’s day is alway a special one to us. We decided to do something different this year, we designed and printed a sheet of cards with 6 different designs. The project was inspired by those vintage perforated cards we all used as kids. We brainstormed some corny sayings and the illustrations drew themselves! They’re available for purchase right now in our shop.

Special letterpress holiday cards with a stencil!

It’s the new year – Happy New Year – and we’re back with some really great projects! If you haven’t checked it out yet, look at our 2011 Year in Ink Review – it covers all of the great instagram photos we took this year. Division Of/ designed these special holiday cards for their clients – they’re a creative agency based in NYC. We’ve collaborated with them in the past on holiday cards and posters. We love the creative use of the stencil with the letterpress print. See all of the posters after the break.

With the holidays fast approaching, we decided to create a limited edition t-shirt with a special holiday message. When we say LIMITED, we mean it! There are only 5 of these shirts up for sale. The shirt (shown above) is screen printed on both sides with white ink. The dolce press logo was printed on the front and the holiday message on the back.

Happy Holidays from the Dolce Press team!

We’re happy to announce a new retailer for the holiday season: UncommonGoods picked us as the winner of their Holiday Card Design Contest, something that we’re ecstatic about in the studio! The process was really fun.

Here’s what happened: We submitted a few designs and the judges picked the Word Search design as a semi-finalist. From there, they posted all of the finalists – 14 total – in their community voting app (a place where customers can vote on new items). After 7 long sleepless nights of reading comments and checking votes, the judges met one last time and picked a winner. The UG team blogged about the process here: The ‘Search’ Is Over. You can see the heated debate among the judges in the photo below, looks like a lot of fun to us!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should have heard by now that one of our designs was selected by Uncommon Goods as a semi-finalist in their holiday card contest. We’re really happy to have caught their eye, but the most important part of the contest is still going on now!

In fact today is the last day to vote, which you can do here.

We put together a little walkthrough if you’re unsure of what to do.

Step 1: Vote for us by clicking thumbs UP. You could vote thumbs down – this is a democratic process after all – but that’s just no fun! Once you place your vote, you’ll be taken to a registration page to sign up (it’s very easy).

Step 2: Once you’ve voted, you can post the link on facebook/twitter/etc. and spread the social media word. If you don’t have a facebook handle or aren’t hip to tweeting, we can’t help right now, that’s a completely separate post.

Step 3: The last favor we’re asking – for now – is to leave a comment. Tell us and everyone else what you think about the cards!

We absolutely love holiday cards that are universal and I don’t think there’s anyone whose enjoyed a snow day who wouldn’t enjoy this holiday card.
