Two hues of blue via letterpress are oh so soothing!

Monday was a business card on black paper, tuesday was one on kraft board, and today (wednesday) is back to white but with a design by Amanda Dennelly that will definitely cause you to tilt your head. Yes, that was our attempt at a bad joke! But these cards aren’t a joke, they’re a great mix of playful / creative / professional, like most of the stuff Amanda creates.

The cards were letterpress printed on 110lb Crane’s Lettra, a soft textured cotton stock that takes an nice impression. Getting a feel for the thickness of paper online is really tough. For reference we tell customers that Lettra in 110lb and 220lb weights are approximately 0.021″ (0.53 mm) and 0.042″ (1.06 mm) thick respectively.

Other aspects that can be tough to gauge from photos are stiffness, brightness, and texture which is why we recommend clients get samples. Printed samples are also a great way to see the quality of printing that a studio can produce. To get your hands on some of the stuff we’ve printed, get in contact with our sample department.

The business cards were letterpress printed in three colors: process blue, pantone 305U (pale blue), and dark gray (90% black). Registration was super critical to ensure proper/even spacing between the contact information. You’d be surprised how good your eyes are at picking out even the smallest of misalignments.
