Letterpress flowers are the focus of these business cards.
Today we’ve got business cards we recently printed for Bloom Shop located in Palmetto, GA. Bloom is, as the owners Lauren and Lindsey describe, “a quirky shop of handmade lovelies, eclectic vintage finds, and unique accessories”. You can check out some of the items they carry in the shop on their website which not only includes new items, but also a great selection of vintage things including furniture! More photos and information about their business cards after the break.
The business cards were letterpress printed on a 300gsm 100% cotton stock that allows us to create a deep impression. Lindsey provided us with the logo from her graphic designer,we laid out the card for her and co-owner Lauren. A similar floral graphic hangs on the wall in the bloom shop (below). The cards were printed in 2 colors, the text was done in gray and the flower in a salmon-like color.

Because of the layout, we printed the “salmon” color first and then the medium-dark gray over it. If you look closely at the logo, you can see the colors overlap. It wasn’t necessary to do a knockout since the gray was considerably darker and it overprinted nicely. You can also use overprints to your advantage like the cards we printed for untitled studios in Australia. Overprinting is a great technique to create a third color with letterpress since the inks are semi-transparent.
