Another day another letterpress business card … is what we’d say if we printed business cards from templates. But we just don’t roll like that at Dolce Press, we like to make each business card custom just like these cards we printed for Darren Sabino. These cards were letterpress printed on our 8×12 Chandler & Price NS in a combination of medium gray, orange, and blind impressions on the front and back.

We love the C&P as its perfect for short runs but still achieves a nice bite when the plate and paper meet.¬†While we’ll often print blind impressions with a touch of transparent white to add shading to the design, with Darren’s cards it wasn’t necessary since the text size was quite large. We printed these cards on a 220# cotton stock because they were doubled sided.

Unlike previous cards we’ve shown that were duplexed from two sheets of 110# paper (259 Strategies Business Cards), Darren’s cards could be printed on a 220# sheet since the design from the front and back don’t overlap and we can therefore get a nice impression on both sides. Once the printing was finished, the corners of the cards were rounded and then the cards were edge colored. The color of the edges was chosen to match the orange ink used on the front of the cards.
