Less is more, at least with these cards designed by and printed for June Kim, a designer and illustrator based in Los Angeles, CA. Letterpress printed on Crane’s Lettra in the 220lb weight (600gsm), the cards were done in black and cut down to 3.5″ x 1.5″. We’ve noticed that people are embracing this short business card size which we’ve used for many projects lately.

June designed the card using the Optima typeface, which was designed by Hermann Zapf and is part of the Linotype Foundry. Don’t be surprised to find out that it’s a san-serif font, even though the subtle swelling at the terminals of the letters visually suggest the presence of a serif.

Where else have you seen optima? Well, take a look at some EsteĆ© Lauder company logos, Aston Martin, and by John McCain’s 2008 presidental campaign.

We finished June’s cards with a bright red edge color to add contrast to the simple styling of the card.
