We design and print for a big variety of companies from Fortune 500's to single-person startups and the common theme among them all is the passion they have for what they do. It's an added treat when you get to work for people who love to help others and that's what non-profit Inspire Bright does.
We designed a custom stationery set which includes: Letterhead, Business Cards, Note Cards, Stickers, and Buttons. Everything was flat printed which keeps the cost down, but the trick is using quality paper so the finished pieces have a great look / feel.

A new custom wedding invitation is the perfect way to end the week. We designed these orange and navy colored invitations for Tracy and Edward, which includes a mounted invite, response card, and matching envelopes.
The ceremony and reception was held at Atlantis Marine world, an aquarium located on the east end of Long Island, NY. The fall wedding made the blue and orange color combination a perfect choice.

Check out the newest wedding invitation we added to the website. We designed these invitations for Sabrina and George for their vineyard themed wedding in the Fingerlakes (upstate NY). Ithaca, NY is home to numerous wineries - which are part of the fingerlakes wine trail - and the bride and groom wanted their invitations to reflect that.
The invite was designed to look like a wine label and was letterpress printed on Neenah Lettra with gold foil accents. The tree was hand drawn by the brides mom and gives the invitation a personal touch.

We decided to change things up this week and share some of the invitations we're working on.
The week started with an invitation suite that came with its own hastag (#atwed). These pieces were printed on Arturo stationery in soft white, pale pink, celadon, and pale blue and finished off with edge coloring.
We also printed invites designed by @deannebedier and a letterpress seashell invitation (Jina Paik) in purple ink. We also designed and printed sweet 16 invitations featuring a classic purple bow.
It's not every day that a customer asks you to print a 6 color business card. Because letterpress is a single color process, most cards we print range from 1 to 3 colors to keep cost down. To keep the appearance of the business cards consistent with the rest of the branding, we printed 5 unique pantone colors and black ink (the 6th).
All of our inks are mixed by hand so we've got Pantone matching down to a science. We've even picked some of our favorite handbags from the Carine Letessier collection, check them out after the break.
We've been having fun sharing videos of the studio on Vine and here are a couple of our recent favorites. The first was a stop animation video of edge colored business cards we printed for Grit & Thistle film company.
Our business cards are printed on recycled stock using vegetable oil based inks with equipment powered by wind. They're the "green"-est business cards you can get.
You can also check out some foil stamping with a registered emboss being printed on a Kluge and letterpress business cards running on a Heidelberg Windmill.
Give us suggestions for what you'd like to see on Vine in the comments below
It was chilly this week - a huge blizzard is coming this weekend. I guess winter has finally arrived. To keep warm we've been busy in the studio mixing lots of ink. Our instagram feed this week was filled with different colors like sage green, cotton candy, silver, and more!
But just in case you're sick of color, we printed a beautiful set of notecards with no ink - they were blind embossed on Crane's Lettra. Just wait until you see them finished with edge coloring!
For more information on embossing - see our post on the difference between letterpress and embossing.
Now you can find us on Vine.co! We're proud to announce that our prints will be hitting the Vine.co servers on a regular basis and the best way to catch them if you don't use Vine is on our twitter account (details below).
What will you see on Vine? We'll be featuring ink mixing, new prints and invitations, and finishing. Maybe some surprises too!
Check out some videos after the break.
We were on both coasts this week, started out in Vegas and got to enjoy all of the beautiful neon signs (a really amazing study in typography and design). By Tuesday we were back in the studio rolling out prints for Valentine's Day (shop) and custom invitations and business cards.
Check out some of the new business cards we designed for Whisper Chef (a blind shell pattern) and Dark Propaganda (a set of black and red duplexed cards).
We're proud to announce the release of our latest greeting card, Give Me Love.

Come join us tonight for a Bridal Showcase of featured vendors at Villa Russo. We'll have all of our newest invitations and day of wedding pieces (menu, program, table cards, etc.) for brides to look at and of course lots of candy and paper goods to give away!
January is always exciting, we're busy designing and printing new invitations and the wedding season is just about to kick off. We spent Saturday printing and foil stamping some of these new designs and the variation of colors is amazing.
From pink, to yellow, to blue, orange, white and even metallic red, we're ecstatic about all of the variety! It's not just about colors though, this year we wanted to focus on the details and we're working to emphasize each process we use.
One invite we worked on this week was a trifold 'booklet' , the perfect option for destination weddings. The end result is a an invite any bride could fall in love with.
Stay tuned for more details on our new invitations as they're printed ...
Today we're featuring business cards we printed for Damon Shields, who runs a creative agency based in Philadelphia. Damon designed the cards, which were printed on ultra thick archival museum board using metallic gold ink.
Normally we duplex stock to make it thicker but this stock is so thick we don't have to. Even though the paper is stiff, it takes a nice impression with no bruising on either side
If this week had a theme it was edge coloring, from greens, to reds, and almost every color in between. It's the perfect way to add a pop of color to wedding invites and business cards.
Up on press this week was a set of cards for @dnassief that were letterpress printed, duplexed, die cut, and edge colored in fluorescent yellow. We also spent some time sorting lead type and fixing some broken equipment. The week wouldn't have been complete without some foil stamping, gold foil on black stock is so much more decadent than gold ink.
This weekend we'll be busy printing new wedding invite designs that will be launching this May. Check out all of our latest prints and designs on instagram (@dolcepress).
An animated GIF of one of our kluge foil stamping presses in motion. Whether you pronounce it J-I-F or G-I-F-T, there's nothing cooler than photos of equipment and an animated gif of a press in motion is as awesome as a double rainbow!

When you spend your day running in between a computer and a 1950's printing press, fonts are an important component of everything you do. From which fonts are the most unique to which ones highlight the printing method best. From wedding invites to business cards, we deal with a wide variety of fonts and one thing we've learned is that good fonts just work and that like children everyone's got their favorite.
The font graphic was designed using some of MyFont's top fonts from 2012 and they include:
The fonts span the gamut from display fonts to calligraphy typefaces and one was even inspired by letterpress wood type.
So we want to know, what's your favorite font right now?
It's been a whirlwind year and instagram played a big part of it. We put together a year-in-ink review in 2011, and this year there's even more to share. Here are some stats from 2012:

We're always working on special projects in the shop to push the limits of our equipment and this month we finally got to work some foil stamping magic. All of our boxes are sealed with reinforced kraft tape because of how strong it is, but a kraft box and kraft tape just seemed to bland for us. Using a seamless pattern of our dolce press icons, we printed silver foil on the tape. The end result is so rich, words can't explain how awesome this tape is!
You might have missed it but this month we collaborated with AtMedia to create a unique TypeCard in celebration of the holidays. The card is printed in holiday red ink and a blind deboss was added to give the finished card extra texture.

This month's TypeCard was a tribute to our veterans whose sacrifice for peace and liberty that we enjoy every day. We worked in collaboration with dan bradley design and ended up with this awesome card.
We brainstormed a topic and some graphic concepts and Dan went to town with the artwork. Once we locked down the final design, we worked some print magic and this is what we ended up with.
We letterpress printed the cards with metallic gold ink on 100# blue stock. The cards were rolled out one at a time on one of the Vandercook Uni III's. We settled on a flat 4Bar size (3.5" x 5") which makes them easy to mail.
Get a free TypeCard with any purchase from our shop during this month until they run out.
