Our Process

We’re a boutique print shop and design studio located on the eastern end of Long Island. Specializing in letterpress, our design studio creates one-of-a-kind prints, invitations, business cards, and more. We focus on the details at each step from conception and design, to printing and finishing. We’re sticklers for perfection which is why all of our work is produced in our studio – it gives us complete control over the quality of each print.

We’re happy to share our print magic with you, send us your design and we’ll walk you through the entire process. >>

1
Design
It all starts with a solid design. From a rough sketch to concept development and all the way to the final artwork, we integrate our broad knowledge of paper and ink to bring your event or brand to life.
2
Plate
We use a wide variety of substrates from magensium to copper, but most of our work is produced using photopolymer plates. Photopolymer produces a high quality print and boasts eco-friendly processing (no nasty chemicals to handle or dispose of).
3
Lockup
Photopolymer plates are backed with adhesive and attached to an grided aluminum printing base, which makes tight registration a snap.
4
Ink
We're crazy for color which is why we mix all of our ink by hand. Using the complete series of Pantone® mixing bases we can achieve an endless array of vibrant or muted colors. We stock specialty inks too, like the entire series of fluorescents, metallics, pastels, and even glow-in-the-dark ink.
5
Press
Our studio is packed with a wide range of vintage equipment from heidelbergs, to vandercooks, and kluges which all produce the finest impression and solid coverage while maintaining hairpin register. We're control freaks, which is why we do everything in house.
6
Printing
Printing isn't just about combining paper, ink, and plates. It starts with running up the perfect color on press, registering multiple dies, and adjusting impression and makeready. When you mix all three in the right proportions you get print perfection.
7
Cutting
What's good printing without a proper trim? Nothing! A sharp knife and computerized cutter means that we can cut jobs with tight borders and full bleeds without even flinching. We also die-cut custom shapes!
8
Finishing
We specialize in finishing of every kind. Edge coloring is something we've mastered whether it's a single color or gradients, even metallics! Looking for other finishes or embellishments like wax seals, converted envelopes, or triplexing? Ask us about all of the unique finishes we offer.
