Letterpress Business Cards – Red Rocket July 27, 2011
Who doesn’t love the little red rocket in their logo?
We printed these business cards for Todd Kimball of Red Rocket Development. The cards were printed on 600 gsm cotton stock in what we’re thinking we’ll call rocketship red ink. The backs were letterpress printed first, with the logo on the front printed second to ensure a nice even impression. The finished result was a clean business card with a bright red design and that looked really neat printed.
Unlike previous cards which we’ve duplexed after printing, the coverage and arrangement of the design on each side meant we were able to print on a pre-duplexed sheet. For more information on duplexing, check out these previous posts: Heidi Five Studio Business Cards, Online Boutique – Mikkat Market, Inku Photo Business Cards.
Todd supplied the artwork for the logo and we worked with him to implement it in a layout. We worked through several iterations with Todd, he ended up choosing a simple right justified layout for his contact information. The logo was featured prominently in the center of the card.
The deep impression of the red rocket logo makes it stand out. Rounded corners help to soften the look. The corners were rounded with a 3/8″ radius die.
Even though the backs were printed first we were able to achieve a nice impression thanks in part to the super thick stock we used (~0.05″ thick!).
