A great example of why letterpress business cards stand out.
We really love these business cards for Heike Delmore of Delmore Creative. Heike supplied the design for these cards and we printed them on a thick 600gsm stock. So what helps a business card stand out? Letterpress changes all of the rules. With a traditional business card, standing out is usually about bold colors and flashy graphics. Since letterpress is a single color process, the design usually puts greater emphasis on the layout and use of fonts and simple graphics to create visual interest.
The Delmore Creative logo was perfectly adapted to letterpress. No gradients or shadowing focuses your eyes on the curves of the logo instead. Also, the interaction of the printed image with the paper is something unique to letterpress, a tactile effect that grabs your attention not only with your eyes but also with your hands.
Ultimately grabbing a client’s attention is about satisfying the senses. A fresh chocolate chip cookie has the same effect, the smell, the sight, and finally the taste. When all three hit the mark the final result is confectionery perfection. While we’re not suggesting you make an edible business card, we do encourage clients to think about how people receive and perceive their business cards.
